GIVING BACK IN A 'BEEFY' WAY!

Burger It Forward is a national celebration of Canadian beef burgers with community heart!

The goals of Burger It Forward:

  • To help relieve food insecurity regionally and across the country
  • To 'beef up' the protein portion of food bank offerings
  • To support local/community level restaurants across the region
  • To grill up some of the tastiest beef burgers across the province!
CANADA BEEF

Canada Beef is a not-for-profit organization that represents the 60,000 beef farming and ranching families across the country, providing promotion, information and advocacy for beef that's raised right here — Canadian beef.

Canada Beef is proud to lead the Burger It Forward campaign to help relieve food insecurity through food bank contributions.

For every campaign featured burger purchased, Canada Beef will donate the equivalent of 1 meal to Food Banks Canada.*

*up to a maximum of 20,000 meals (based on Food Banks Canada's meal metric: $1 = 2 meals).

PEI CATTLE PRODUCERS

The beef farmers of Prince Edward Island build their success on responsible and sustainable farming practices that continue through the generations. Representing the voice for Island beef farmers, the PEI Cattle Producers Association aims to foster positive relationships within their communities. Prince Edward Island Cattle Producers are donating $2,000 worth of ground beef to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.

ATLANTIC BEEF PRODUCTS

Atlantic Beef Products (ABP) is a state-of-the-art beef processing facility that marries old world farming traditions with leading edge processing. Federally inspected, ABP is the culmination of the vision, dedication and cooperation of key people and groups - cattle farmers, the beef industry, federal and provincial governments — all working together towards a growing contribution to the Atlantic Canada economy.

Atlantic Beef Products are helping to 'beef up' local food banks by donating $1500 worth of ground beef to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.

THE UPPER ROOM HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Inc. (URHM) is a non-profit organization that operates a food bank and soup kitchen as a way to meet some of the food needs of those for Islanders in need. The Upper Room raises funds, organizes food drives, and raises awareness about food insecurity.

The Upper Room is also known as PEI Food Banks and is the main association of Food Banks on Prince Edward Island; as well as a member of Food Banks Canada. Mission Statement: We believe all people should be able to access healthy food. We believe in creating a non-judgemental and inviting atmosphere in which those who are in need can enjoy a warm meal or take home grocery hampers to help round out their food.

FOOD BANKS CANADA

Food Banks Canada is the leader in addressing food insecurity in Canada. Our mission is to provide national leadership to relieve hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow in collaboration with the food bank network from coast to coast to coast. For over 40 years, food banks have been dedicated to helping people living in Canada with food insecurity. Over 5,500 food banks and community organizations come together to serve our most vulnerable neighbours, who — this year — made close to 2.2 million visits to these organizations in one month alone, according to our HungerCount report. Since 2010, Food Banks Canada has shared over $1 billion in food supports and over $275 million in funding to help maximize collective impact and strengthen local capacity—while, backed by leading research, advocating for meaningful actions from governments to counter hunger and its root causes. Our vision is clear: create a Canada where no one goes hungry.

RESTAURANT SUPPORT

Recognizing the challenges local restaurants have faced over recent years, participation in Burger It Forward is offered to restaurants with no registration fees.

Restaurants are encouraged to give back what they can to their local food banks as part of their contribution to the program. All Burger It Forward profiled burgers feature Canadian beef in support of local cattle farmers and ranchers.
